The purpose of the study was to determine the effectiveness of written composition strategies from their social and instrumental function through the development of a community digital newspaper. The work was oriented towards the quantitative approach, under the positivist paradigm and carried out from the quasi-experimental method with an experimental and control group. The population was made up of 450 students attending the first university cycle, of which 50% made up the experimental group and the other 50% the control group. The results demonstrate that the strategies used in the development of the community digital newspaper have been effective, since they strengthen the practices of reading and writing from their social function, translated into communicative and instrumental perspectives. Furthermore, they lead not only to integrating the different disciplines taught at the university, but through these, both academic and social values are promoted. It is concluded that the university forms a space for community work, since it is inserted in a digital context, to which it must respond with knowledge, to the point of making it meaningful. It is recommended that this practice should not only focus on academic realities, but also as a means of expressing ideas and thoughts and thereby revealing its epistemic function.Downloads
