Analysis of the survival of coffee exporting companies in Peru: a temporal perspective (2012-2023)

Translator This study offers an analysis of the survival and success of Peruvian companies in coffee exports, addressing key factors of international trade and business management. A quantitative approach and non-experimental design was used to analyze data on coffee exports that come from the database of the National Superintendency of Tax Administration (SUNAT) for the period 2012 – 2023. The technique applied was descriptive statistics and analysis method was Kaplan-Meier. The results show significant fluctuations in the FOB Value, Net Weight and FOB Price of coffee exports, as well as changes in the number of exporting companies and their survival over time. It is highlighted that, despite the annual variations, there is a sustained increase in the total number of companies, with notable differences in longevity depending on the size of the company. The conclusions of the study highlight the complexity of the Peruvian coffee market and the need for adaptive and resilient strategies that must be taken into account in foreign trade policies on the internationalization of companies to strengthen the survival of coffee exporting companies.
