Resumen

Although the variable study habits and academic performance are widely recurrent in face-to-face research at the university level, the same cannot be said about the virtual modality, since there is little research on the subject in this area. Given this, it was proposed to determine the relationship between study habits and the academic performance of the students of the Communication 1 course, belonging to the virtual campus of a Peruvian university. The research is characterized by its quantitative approach of causal correlational design. The participants were 289 students, to whom a 38-item questionnaire validated by expert judgment was applied, with a Cronbach's Alpha reliability of 0.971. To contrast hypotheses between the variables, Kendall's Tau-b test was used. After processing and interpreting the statistical data, the causal relationship between study habits and the academic performance of the students was verified with a sig. 0.001 and Nagelkerke's R square obtained from the Intro method of binary logistic regression through which a p-value of 0.001 lower than 0.05 was obtained (0.001 < 0.05). The conclusion was reached that study habits significantly influence the academic performance of virtual campus students.
