Abstract

Abstract– The growing trend of urban areas that apply the linear economic model is a widespread concern, due to the excessive and inconsistent use of resources to produce goods and services. Since Chepén is no stranger to this reality, a proposal for the creation of sustainable cities using the circular economy approach in the city was established through basic, non-experimental, quantitative, and cross-sectional research. It was found 3 critical points were found that mainly afflict the city, for which a proposal for sustainable cities was proposed, which was validated economically and socially, resulting as a result the viability and sustainability of the proposal in both aspects. In addition, it was validated by means of the hedonic price model, demonstrating that citizens are willing to pay more for housing with sustainable characteristics. Finally, it is concluded that Chepén presents problems regarding Waste Management, Urban Inequality and Economic Competitiveness; therefore, it is proposed the construction of a sanitary landfill with a biogas plant, training on source segregation and circular economy (education and entrepreneurship) and the design of an incentive scheme to promote good environmental practices.
