This study analyzes the implementation of continuous improvement tools in a video game rental microenterprise in Peru, aiming to optimize processes by reducing defects, waiting times, and waste. In a context where research in this sector is scarce, operational and cost efficiency are crucial for small businesses to maintain quality and profitability in a highly competitive market. While Lean methodologies have improved services in other industries, their application in video game rental remains underexplored. Inspired by Rodríguez & Álvarez (2021), who applied Poka Yoke, 5S, VSM, Suggestion Systems, and Hoshin Kanri in an environmental consulting firm—reducing cycle time by 56.55%—this pilot study demonstrates notable improvements in key indicators. The cost of sales as a percentage of revenue decreased from 44.10% to 41.50%, and the service error rate dropped from 39.51% to 27.30%. Average downtime per event fell from 87.5 to 54.3 minutes, while rework due to detected failures decreased from 8.58% to 2.10%. These results highlight the potential of Kaizen and Poka Yoke to enable more agile and efficient operations, directly impacting profitability and customer satisfaction. The findings suggest that structured application of these methodologies could be replicated in other entertainment businesses to enhance competitiveness through process optimization.Downloads
