Water is essential for human survival; Industrial processes, population growth and its concentration in urban areas generate about 380 billion tons of wastewater in the world. Microalgae, recognized for their great efficiency in the treatment of these effluents, make it possible to change the focus from a make – take – waste economy to a circular one; that is: reduce, reuse, recycle and regenerate. The objective was: To document the bibliometric aspects of wastewater treatment using microalgae. The methodology was the systematic review of literature between the years 2014 – 2024. The search was carried out in databases such as Scopus, Scielo, PubMed, Wiley Online and Taylor & Francis, identifying 44 articles for analysis; In addition, inclusion and exclusion criteria were established following the Prisma methodology. Conclusion: The treatment of wastewater using microalgae is a promising solution for its recovery, enabling the elimination of contaminants and, in addition, mitigating the environmental impact in a transition towards more sustainable practices.Descargas
