Transformational Leadership and Organizational Commitment: A Systematic Review, period 2018-2023

Resumen

The present research comprises the state of the art of Transformational Leadership and its relationship with Organizational Commitment. The main concepts of the literature by different authors of the scientific community are presented. Transformational Leadership is a leadership style characterized by inspiring and motivating followers to achieve higher levels of organizational performance and personal development and Organizational Commitment refers to the degree to which employees identify with the organization in which they work, their level of emotional involvement with the company's values and their willingness to remain in it. The methodology used is the systematic review of research, resulting in a total of 147 studies, 22 of which were selected. The inclusion criteria were related to the most relevant research on the topic between the years 2018-2023, in addition, the search and analysis of scientific studies in articles and journals in the Scopus database was performed. The discussion shows points of view of different positions regarding both terms. The links between the concepts of transformational leadership and organizational commitment are identified, a concept that explains the importance of the effect that transformational leadership has on employee commitment to stimulate higher levels of performance, as well as to encourage the achievement of organizational goals. It is concluded that organizational leadership has a direct positive relationship with employee commitment in different work contexts.
