Exploring the Road to Sustainable Tourism: Colombia and Honduras, Potential Destinations

Tourism is the main driver of the economy in many countries, particularly those with rich biodiversity and unique cultural heritage. Colombia and Honduras are two nations that have recognized the importance of developing sustainable tourism to protect and preserve their valuable natural and cultural resources; and thus, generate positive impacts, both for the economy and the environment. Each of these countries has spaces where they promote environmental care, as well as how they manage to include in their growth the policies that allow them to sustain themselves. Through this writing, based on articles and research, it can be identified that not only does the economy increase in these countries, but they also allow environmental care, with tourism being one of their main economic activities. This essay identifies the importance of promoting respectful, diverse and sustainable tourism, which with the help of public policies allows development for its sustainability, since many of these destinations have a wide variety of natural, cultural and historical attractions, which allows a hospitality that provides unforgettable experiences to visitors or tourists.
