Resumen

The main problem that affects the world is the pollution of bodies of water, which negatively impacts public well-being and the environment. This increases further as a result of the productive activity of the slaughterhouses, which present final effluents with a high organic load content, making them considered fixed sources of pollution; for presenting an inadequate system to treat its liquid, solid and gaseous waste. Furthermore, due to the little information that exists on the operation, operation and maintenance, only some cities carry out inadequate wastewater treatment. The “La Colonial” Frigorífico farm does not correctly treat its water, which goes to the sewage system and, finally, to the bodies of water, affecting the marine-coastal area. The main objective of this research is to determine the effectiveness in removing turbidity and organic matter of the cactus pear (Opuntia ficus-indica) coagulant by carrying out jar test trials where data on the study parameters were collected. . The results show the removal of BOD5 by 75.32%, TSS 97.59% and turbidity 97.68%. In the case of the TSS (mg/L) and pH, which were maintained, they are within the regulations of Supreme Decree No. 010-2019-VIVIENDA – Maximum Admissible Values (VMA) for discharges to the sanitary sewage system. Finally, it was concluded that the most effective dose is 40 mg/L since it has managed to greatly reduce the various parameters despite the factors of time and agitation which play a great role.
