Resumen

The present research project was carried out with the aim of determining the compressive and flexural strength of compacted adobe with the addition of 1%, 1.25% and 1.5% used motor oil and waste cooking oil. The study approach was quantitative, with a sample of 140 adobe blocks, 70 adobes for the compression test and 70 adobes for the flexural test. The results obtained in the compressive strength test showed that the addition of used motor oil increased the strength by 10.47%, while the addition of waste cooking oil increased the strength by 18.35%. Regarding the results of the flexural strength test, the addition of used motor oil increased the strength by 8.96%, while the addition of waste cooking oil increased the strength by 15.86%. In summary, the addition of used motor oil and waste cooking oil enhanced the mechanical capacity of the compacted adobes, thus exceeding the hypothesis proposed, reaching strengths greater than 7%.
