Resumen

The primary objective of this study was to understand how poor inspection can affect inventory management at a pharmaceutical company in Arequipa in 2024. A quantitative approach and a correlational, non-experimental design were used. A structured survey was administered to 50 employees from the logistics and warehouse departments, selected through non-probability sampling. The results revealed that 96% of respondents have limited knowledge of inspection processes and 98% reported having difficulties with inventory management. A moderately strong positive relationship was also observed between both variables (ρ = 0.536; p < 0.01), indicating that poor inspection could also affect inventory management. Various aspects were examined, including inventory control, regulatory compliance, operational oversight, and interdepartmental coordination, and in over 90% of cases, these elements were found to be deficient. Based on these findings, it can be deduced that poor inspection negatively impacts the efficiency of inventory management, generating both financial and logistical risks. Therefore, it is suggested that internal control systems be strengthened and staff trained to optimize supervision and achieve more efficient and sustainable management.
