Abstract

According to MIDAGRI, more than 880,000 producers in Peru are engaged in cattle raising, mainly in rural areas. In Ucayali, cattle raising represents 17.8% of the Gross Value of Livestock Production, with a lower yield than in coastal cities. Given its impact in Campo Verde - Ucayali,. In this research, Lean manufacturing and sustainable value chain tools are used mainly in the design of a feedlot with flexible operations. The research begins with the development of the Sustainable Value Stream Mapping (Sus-VSM) for the diagnosis of the current situation, where the indicators of time, capacity and resource consumption are analyzed; this together with articulation strategies to strengthen the value chain and improve both the productive capacity and the quality of life of local cattle ranchers. The result of the research proposes promoting associativity among the producers to establish a slaughterhouse that will produce meat with excellent processing, with an initial investment of S/. 116,102, of which S/. 50,000 would come from Concytec or Procompite competitive funds. A Net Present Value (NPV) of S/. 172,036 and an Internal Rate of Return (IRR) of 37.4% over a 3-year return period is estimated. In addition, the carbon footprint is reduced by approximately 45%. It is expected that these actions will have a positive impact on the quality of life of cattle ranchers, for which the coordinated participation of the actors identified in the articulation of the value chain will be key: Academia, the State, companies and producers.
