Abstract - This research paper describes the design and implementation of an automatic irrigation system based on humidity sensors to improve water use efficiency in rural areas in the Polloc district of Cajamarca. The research addresses the problem of inefficient water use in traditional agriculture, especially in communities with limited access to technology. A prototype was developed with resistive sensors, an Arduino UNO microcontroller, and a solenoid valve, powered by solar energy, and applied to 10 agricultural plots during a 30-day trial period. The results showed an average 38% reduction in water consumption and a 42% increase in water efficiency. The system also reduced the frequency and duration of irrigation and was well received by farmers, who highlighted its usefulness, ease of use, and potential for larger-scale implementation. It is concluded that this technology is a viable, sustainable, and replicable alternative to address irrigation challenges in rural areas.Descargas
