This systematic review evaluates the relationship between smart buildings and their environmental impact through an analysis of 30 scientific articles, using the PICO and PRISMA methodologies. The most important objective is to identify how smart buildings help to reduce environmental impact by improving energy efficiency, reducing CO2 emissions, optimizing the consumption of HVAC systems and implementing advanced technologies. The energy efficiency criterion stands out as the most important with 53.33% emphasis, showing that these buildings are a feasible solution to promote sustainability and minimize the consumption of energy resources. This work highlights the potential of smart buildings as a crucial tool to reduce climate change and promote sustainable urban practices.
