Abstract

The use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in the university setting is becoming increasingly common and necessary. However, it is possible that the attitude of university professors may influence their performance and the establishment of connections with students through classroom interaction. Therefore, the main objective of the research was to understand the possible relationship between professors' attitudes towards ICT and the dynamics of interaction with engineering students. The research followed a quantitative, correlational, and non-experimental cross-sectional approach, achieving anonymous and voluntary participation from 102 professors in engineering programs in Lima, Peru. The results indicated a significant, high, and positive relationship between attitudes towards the use of ICT and interaction with students (r = .686, p <.00); the same trend was observed between the dimensions of attitudes towards ICT and the second variable. Furthermore, it was reported that professors in the industrial engineering program showed a significant difference in the affective dimension of attitudes towards ICT and also in the variable of interaction with students. Additionally, younger professors exhibited significant differences in both study variables.
