A physicochemical characterization of the Huaynaputina volcanic lapilli was carried out using X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray fluorescence (XRF), Differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and Thermogravimetric analysis (TA) techniques in order to evaluate its potential as a pozzolanic material. The results obtained demonstrated that the material complies with the requirements established in the ASTM C-618 standard. Compressive strength tests were performed on mortars with different lapilli dosages and grinding degrees. The results indicated that grinding significantly improves pozzolanic reactivity, allowing partial replacement of cement without compromising mechanical properties. These findings open new possibilities for the development of more sustainable cemented materials with lower environmental impact.Downloads
