Abstract

Water is the most impacted resource by different industrial activities such as mining, textiles and poultry farming, which dump their waste into the water resource without any prior treatment. In view of this, the present research aims to give added value to chicken feathers, having as its objective: To determine the use of chicken feathers as a treatment for the removal of water contaminated simulated with lead nitrate, the study has a quantitative approach, has an experimental design, as an instrument it is based on the background, laboratory materials, registration form, the SPSS program and Microsoft Excel, chicken feathers were also collected from a local poultry farm, which went through a cleaning process and then were weighed in different quantities, likewise water contaminated with lead nitrate 1000(mgPb/L) was simulated in the Biology laboratory of the UPN. Two repetitions were made with four samples each with different quantities of feathers. Finally, the results of the study are favorable, managing to remove 98.31% and 97.72(%) of lead nitrate, with 3 grams of chicken feathers being adequate in a time of 60 minutes. This project provides an alternative solution that is feasible, economical and valuable.
