Initial Validation of ELENA: an affordable device for monitoring tremors in Parkinson's patients.

This article addresses the growing need for an effective system for monitoring tremors in patients with Parkinson's disease (PD). The ELENA project is introduced, a low-cost device based on IoT technology that utilizes an MPU6050 accelerometer for accurate detection of hand tremors. Prototype programming, sensor calibration, and validation tests using the pwelch technique accurately identified tremor frequencies, validating the system's effectiveness. Additionally, a web application is in the process of implementation and has been integrated with ThingSpeak to enable remote monitoring, providing patients and healthcare professionals with easy and secure access to real-time data. Data visualization in graphs facilitates understanding of tremor progression, offering valuable information for decision-making in disease treatment and management. As future work, refining the user interface, exploring additional measurements, and conducting clinical studies to validate the system's effectiveness in real-world environments are proposed.Descargas
