Influence of Saccharomyces cerevisiae on Bioethanol Production from Musa paradisiaca Husk Waste

Fuel is an essential substance due to its wide range of applications in different productive sectors. As a result, various environmental challenges have arisen, such as climate change and the increase in global temperature. Therefore, the objective of this research was to evaluate the production of bioethanol from Musa paradisiaca shell waste using different amounts of Saccharomyces cerevisiae. To do so, a quantitative approach methodology was applied with a 3×2 factorial experimental design. The procedure included mechanical pretreatment, hydrolysis and fermentation. As a result, it was found that the highest concentration of bioethanol obtained had a value of 6,85 g/L with two grams of yeast. Regarding the °Brix, an average of 8.20 was reached in all experiments at the end of hydrolysis. Subsequently, after fermentation with one gram and two grams of yeast, these values were reduced to 3 °Brix and 2 °Brix. Similarly, in relation to pH, an average decrease was reported from 5,77 to 4,77 and 3,77, respectively. In conclusion, the statistical analysis showed that yeast, independently, significantly influences the bioethanol concentration, °Brix and pH.Descargas
