Peer Review Process
This page summarizes the peer review process applied to papers published in LACCEI Proceedings. The full LACCEI editorial framework is available at laccei.org/editorial-policies.
Editorial Commitment
LACCEI is committed to the highest standards of academic integrity, scientific rigor, transparency, and editorial independence across all its conferences and official proceedings. LACCEI aligns its editorial practices with internationally recognized principles, including those recommended by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
Type of Review
All Full Papers (FP) published in LACCEI Proceedings undergo a structured double-blind peer review: author and reviewer identities are concealed from one another throughout the process.
Number of Reviewers
Each Full Paper is reviewed by a minimum of three (3) independent reviewers drawn from the Scientific Committee of the originating conference.
Review Criteria
Reviewers evaluate each manuscript against the following criteria:
- Originality and significance of the contribution
- Technical soundness and methodological rigor
- Clarity of presentation and structure
- Relevance to engineering, education, and technology, particularly in Latin America and the Caribbean
- Appropriate citation of prior literature
- Compliance with LACCEI ethical and originality standards
Reviewer Obligations
Reviewers must:
- Treat manuscripts as confidential documents
- Provide objective, constructive, and timely reviews
- Disclose any conflict of interest that may bias the review
- Refrain from using unpublished material for personal advantage
- Alert the editor to ethical concerns (suspected plagiarism, duplicate submission, etc.)
Editorial Decision
Based on reviewer recommendations, the Track Chair and the Editor make a publication decision. Possible outcomes:
- Accept - paper is included in the proceedings
- Accept with revisions - author addresses comments; revised version verified
- Reject - paper is not accepted for this volume
Presentation Requirement
Only papers formally presented at the conference (onsite or virtual, as applicable in hybrid format) are eligible for publication in the official proceedings. Failure to present may result in removal from publication.
Conflict of Interest Management
Reviewers, Track Chairs, and Editors are required to declare conflicts of interest before reviewing a manuscript. Submissions are reassigned when a conflict is identified.
Appeals
Authors who wish to appeal a rejection may write to the Technical Committee at info@laccei.org. Appeals are reviewed by the Editorial Board following COPE flowcharts.
Reviewer Recognition
Reviewers are acknowledged in the conference proceedings volume. LACCEI does not publicly disclose the identity of reviewers for specific papers.
Peer Review Structure
The peer review of LACCEI Proceedings is delivered by three layers that vary per conference edition (LACCEI 2026, LEIRD 2026, etc.):
- Technical Committee: coordinates the scientific process of a specific edition.
- Track Chairs: responsible for specific thematic areas.
- Reviewer Pool: set of reviewers available to evaluate manuscripts.
