Abstract– Community participatory methodologies are currently recognized as an effective mechanism for the development of public policies and for the implementation of actions with a greater potential for effectiveness and sustainability. In this context, this article analyzes the trends related to these methodologies in the last two decades. Methodologically, the study addresses the bibliometric perspective through a co-occurrence and bibliographic coupling analysis based on articles retrieved from the Scopus database. Based on the identified criteria, a total of 975 documents were considered in the analysis. From the bibliographic coupling analysis, 11 clusters were obtained that represent the main trends in the context of community participatory methodologies. Their implementation in different contexts such as public health, co-creation of community services, environmental, artistic and cultural projects is highlighted. Likewise, the importance of these methodologies in the processes of social innovation, sustainability and community development is explored.
