Resumen

This study analyzes how the combination of Lean Manufacturing (LM) and Industry 4.0 (I4.0) technologies can transform the manufacturing sector by reducing waste and optimizing resources. To this end, a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) was conducted following the PICO framework, which allowed structuring key questions on problems, interventions, context and outcomes. A total of 179 papers were collected from databases such as SCOPUS and Web of Science, and after applying specific criteria, 23 relevant studies were selected. These papers highlighted how Lean tools, such as JIT, Kaizen and 5S, are enhanced with technologies such as IoT, Big Data and cyber-physical systems, achieving significant improvements in efficiency, quality and time reduction. The results show that this integration not only makes production more sustainable and leaner, but is applicable in sectors such as automotive, food and electronics. However, challenges such as resistance to change and the need for digital skills still persist. In summary, combining LM and I4.0 represents a unique opportunity for companies seeking greater competitiveness in a dynamic market.
