This study focuses on analyzing the impact that the implementation of electronic commerce (e-commerce) systems has had on small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The study aims to identify the benefits and challenges of adopting e-commerce to improve the competitiveness and efficiency of SMEs. To do so, 176 original articles from Scopus databases were reviewed and manual searches were conducted until December 2023, of which 51 articles met the inclusion criteria. The results of the review showed that the adoption of ecommerce systems allows SMEs to access new markets, improve customer satisfaction and optimize their operational processes. The digitalization of business operations through e-commerce has facilitated the expansion of the presence in the digital market and has increased customer interaction and loyalty. Thus, it was concluded that the implementation of e-commerce systems has proven to be an effective strategy for SMEs to increase their competitiveness and optimize their processes. This analysis highlights the importance of digitalization and technological modernization as key factors for the success of SMEs in today's market.Downloads
