There are several studies about the effects produced by antennas over ground planes and the wave reflections at far field distances. However, there are few studies about electromagnetic fields near the antenna. The objective of this paper is to determine the far field distance as the antenna is elevated from the ground plane, and to show the variation of the electric field at each case. To achieve this, an analysis of both modulus and phase of wave impedances is made, instead of commonly used expressions resulting in a more accurate prediction than by traditional methods.Downloads
